Education is a virtue in and of itself, one of the defining characteristics of a civilized society. It has an emancipatory value to an individual by giving the priceless freedom to choose the most fitting path of life. It is the mechanism by which people can freely access all the other commodities we value, including cultural, social, and economic ones.
Prof Simon Gicharu through his effective and strategic leadership has developed Mount Kenya University from a national university to a cross border institution with the objectives of access to quality education and developing a value-based generation being at the core of his vision.

Philip Githiora for a book launch titled ‘The Mountain meets A thousand Hills, detailing the Story of Mt Kenya University journey to establishment in Kigali City, Republic of Rwanda since 2010.
